How does the ICVCM interact with carbon-crediting programs?

Modified on Mon, 29 Apr at 12:03 PM

Carbon-crediting programs play a pivotal role in the ICVCM’s Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) assessment and implementation process.

Our CCPs establish a global benchmark for high-integrity and are similar to standards set by financial regulators. They set rules relating to a product – carbon credits – and to the carbon-crediting programs that issue them.

We will assess carbon-crediting programs and the carbon credits they issue for adherence to the criteria and requirements set out in the CCP Assessment Framework.

Section six of the CCP Assessment Framework contains the Assessment Procedure, the process through which carbon-crediting programs apply to become CCP-Eligible and carbon credits may become CCP-Approved.
